ANDRE
SMITH – Student Advocate
During the fall and winter of 1999, Andre worked as a Umoja student
intern providing administrative assistance. He has been involved in
every leadership and community development activity that Umoja has offered
since its inception in 1997. Andre graduated from Manley in the Spring
of 2000 and chose to work at Umoja through his work placement with Public
Allies; he has been a full-time staff member of Umoja since August of
2000. Andre provides direct service to Umoja’s freshman group
J.U.S.T.U.S. and male expression group, Flipside. He assists in the
design and coordinates the implementation of all activities and services
for freshmen and sophomores, their families and programming activities.
