Your donation of any amount to Umoja will change thousands of students’ lives.
Through the support of a generous foundation all new and increased donations will be matched this year!
Schools that serve the most vulnerable students continue to face daunting hurdles and severe resource shortages, but we remain committed as ever to Umoja’s mission to ensure every student graduates from high school ready for college and career success. Through our Peace Rooms, discipline infractions and suspensions are cut in half as students learn tangible life skills to address conflict. Through our classroom-based daily Seminar curriculum, students develop social-emotional skills and a mindset toward college and career success while increasing their graduation rates and college enrollment.
At Umoja, we believe schools are critical places for preventing and interrupting the violence that plagues Chicago’s neighborhoods. We believe schools should be sanctuaries where students learn to effectively address conflict and trauma while nurturing their dreams for their futures. We are dedicated to providing students, teachers, and schools with the resources and tools necessary for all young people to realize their dreams.
- More students need access to safe spaces like the Peace Room.
- More students need support to create a plan for life after high school.
- More students need positive environments for learning, where they feel cared for and confident they can succeed.
