Jerel Ezell Program Evaluator
Jerel joined the Umoja Team in August 2017 as Program Evaluator. He is a public health researcher and community equity advocate. Jerel has extensive experience conducting empirical research and program evaluation, with a special interest in qualitative research related to historically disenfranchised groups, abused and neglected children, and at-risk teens.
As Program Evaluator, Jerel works closely with Umoja’s Director of Evaluation to provide analytic and data management services for the organization’s diverse suite of school-based programs. Jerel is passionate about the power of carefully-crafted research to influence policies that can advance opportunities for underserved students in Chicago and beyond. Jerel obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from the University of Michigan in 2008, and received his Master of Public Health from Columbia University in New York in 2010. He is currently a doctoral student in sociology at the University of Chicago.
