Thank you, Umoja Associates Board!
In September 2015, we welcomed the first members of Umoja's Associates Board. The groups consists of 16 emerging leaders in our city, all passionate about education and Chicago's young people.
The Associates Board serves as a diverse group of young professionals that advocate for Umoja's mission. They believe that education is the ultimate equalizer and use volunteering, fundraising, communication and outreach as primary vehicles to support and promote Umoja's mission and engage with the community at large. It is because of their leadership, passion and commitment to the organization that Umoja's work can expand and impact our communities in new ways.
Since their very first meeting, the group has collectively raised close to $4,000. They have participated in Umoja's end-of-year #LifeisGood Giving Challenge (in conjunction with the Annual Appeal), organized Tips4Peace, an after work hours gathering at Nisei Lounge in Wrigleyville, and attended Spring Fling at the Garfield Park Conservatory.
The Associates Board is looking for additional members this summer! If interested and would like more information on how you can get involved, please contact Caryn Turgeon, Manager of Individual Giving and Special Events, at .
