Kara Allen Soldati Chief Executive Officer
Dr. Kara Allen Soldati (she/her/hers) serves as Umoja's Chief Executive Officer.
Dr. Kara Allen Soldati is an unequivocal believer in the brilliance of young people and adults who uplift them. Kara is excited to elevate our focus on adult capacity-building as the primary vehicle for creating restorative, inclusive and safe education spaces where social and emotional learning practices can thrive and where young people have agency and support in their learning journey. Kara brings to Umoja fifteen years of experience working to disrupt and reimagine systems that thrive through injustice. Most recently, Kara served as the President & CEO of a nonprofit that supports young people impacted by the foster care system and homelessness through their journey to self-sufficiency. Kara also serves on the Board of Directors of CoachArt, The Wayfarer Foundation, and Black & Brown Futures.
Kara completed her Doctorate in Educational Leadership for Social Justice at Loyola Marymount University. Prior to LMU, Kara graduated with her Masters of Social Work at the University of Southern California, completed coursework for her Masters of Education, and obtained her Bachelor's degree from Purdue University. Kara is also a big fan of sneakers, donuts, and her family.
