Tim McEachran Social Emotional Learning Specialist | Site: Mather HS
Tim (he/him/his) joined Umoja in August 2018 after four years as a classroom teacher. He works at Mather High School supporting Freshman, Sophomore, and Senior Seminar.
Prior to Umoja, Tim was a 5th grade teacher at McDowell Elementary School in Chicago, where he was placed through Teach for America. During that time, he served as Intermediate Department Chair, member of the Instructional Leadership Team, and school delegate for the Chicago Teachers Union. As a teacher, Tim focused his efforts on integrating social emotional learning components into school culture through a school-based Male Mentoring Program, an after-school Fine Arts program, and a Chemistry Quiz Bowl team. He is committed to empowering students as they own their identities and connect to the world around them. In his current work at Mather, Tim is heavily involved with Freshman on Track initiatives and the Post-Secondary Leadership Team. He graduated with a BA in Sociology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and earned his Master of Arts in Teaching from Dominican University.
